About Opera Houses in Rome

Opera Houses in Rome is an independent, unofficial guide to the city's opera house, its theatres and the opera concerts that play in its churches, palaces and on its rooftops. It is built around one question: which evening do you book, and what does the ticket actually buy. We are not a theatre, a concert organiser, a tour operator or the official site of any opera house or booking platform, and we do not operate or personally conduct these tours, concerts or evenings. You can return to the guide to the opera houses in Rome at any time.

Why this site exists

Opera in Rome is easy to misread as a visitor. The Teatro dell'Opera sells its own season and its guided tours, plays from autumn to early summer and moves outdoors in July. Most of the opera sold to visitors on any night is something else: La Traviata in a concert staging at St Paul's Within the Walls, an hour of arias in a Renaissance palace, a Three Tenors tribute, a terrace concert above Piazza Navona. They are good evenings, but they are not a staged production at the opera house.

So every page starts from what you can actually book that night, says plainly what each ticket is, and adds the house rules, the dress codes and the seasons that decide whether the plan works.

Where the information comes from

Concert and visit prices, lengths, venues, inclusions and ratings come from the listings on GetYourGuide and Viator, read directly from the platforms. The opera house's seat prices, guided-tour prices, house rules and season come from the theatre's own website, operaroma.it. History comes from Wikipedia and the venues' own sites.

Euro prices are shown in US dollars first, converted at the European Central Bank reference rate.

How it is checked

Prices, programmes and inclusions change, so the figures are re-read every quarter and the comparison tables say which quarter they belong to. Casts and performance dates change every season and are never copied here in full: the theatre's calendar is the place for them.

How the site earns

Some links are affiliate links to GetYourGuide, Viator and Stay22. If you book through one, we may earn a commission and your price stays the same. Links to the opera house, theatres and Wikipedia are never affiliate links.
